Our worst fear

What if it was discovered that all the supposedly horribly bland, clumsy, inelegant and inhuman industrially produced buildings from the seventies – were in fact quite adequate for their residents and users – and their perceived undesirableness was just a delusion introduced into the minds of the public by a succesful PSY-OP on part of the architects who suddenly found out they had made themselves unnecessary and irrelevant? Rather like the way chemical industry has succesfully made a major portion of people feel they SMELL BAD?

What if all these boring and ugly and unhealthy and horrible-in-every-way buildings were actually almost – no, COMPLETELY all right?

It would be a disaster for ARCHITECTS.
